Kayla Reeder Attends Phi Kappa Phi Student Vice President Leadership Summit

2013 Aug 15

Kayla Reeder of West Point, Calif., recently attended the Student Vice President Leadership Summit hosted by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi--the nation's largest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines--in Baton Rouge, La., July 26-28.

As student vice president of the California State University, Stanislaus chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, Reeder was nominated to attend the inaugural Leadership Summit, which brought together more than 60 student vice presidents from across the nation and the Philippines.

The two-day event, hosted on the Louisiana State University campus, was developed to engage the Society's student vice presidents in personal and organizational development. Participants learned about strategies for operating and maintaining active chapters of Phi Kappa Phi and participated in a one-day training program, LeaderShape's Catalyst, that explored and enhanced individual strengths, interpersonal styles and the capacity to lead.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. The Society has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Its mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."
