How did you become involved as a Phi Kappa Phi volunteer? As a Ph.D. student, I was honored to be initiated into such a prestigious organization. I was looking for ways to fund research that I was presenting at conferences across the United States. As a member of Phi Kappa Phi, I knew there were grants and other funding for members. After meeting with the past president, I was asked to step up and help with the upcoming initiation. From that moment on, I have been actively involved.

What has Phi Kappa Phi done that has made you proud? At my University, Phi Kappa Phi is a coveted honor to all invited and those not. I am proud of the diversity that is shown throughout Phi Kappa Phi. It is amazing to see the different disciplines come together for such an honor.

What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you? Phi Kappa Phi is more than just a society for outstanding scholars in their field; it is an organization that allows for diverse individuals to show their love of learning long after they leave the academic setting. I am so amazed at all the accomplishments of members all across the United States and world.

What do you enjoy most about being a Phi Kappa Phi volunteer? I have loved getting to meet people from all across the United States from numerous universities. I also enjoyed seeing all the new faces joining our chapter at Tennessee Technological University.

What advice would you give to a new Phi Kappa Phi volunteer? Do not be afraid to get your feet wet. I jumped in head first to volunteering and have loved every minute of it.

What are your hobbies? I love to read anything I can, crafting, and spending time with my husband at sporting events. I especially love Hockey! Let's Go Preds!

Where are you from? I am from a small town in Tennessee called Pleasant Shade. I have lived in the Middle Tennessee area my entire life. I love the hills of Tennessee and planned to stay here forever.
