Phi Kappa Phi Honors Missy Hopper with a Named Dissertation Fellowship
Baton Rouge, LA (09/27/2022) — The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi-the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society-announced the designation of The Missy Hopper Dissertation Fellowship to honor her many years of service, devotion, and commitment to Phi Kappa Phi. The announcement was made at the opening session of the Society's 47th convention held in Orlando, Florida on Aug. 4.
Hopper was Phi Kappa Phi's president during the 2018-2020 biennium and recently rotated o the Society's board of directors after a six-year term which included the roles of president-elect, president and past president.
"No one has been more effective or more dedicated as a Phi Kappa Phi leader. For that reason, I am beyond delighted to announce that we have named one of the fellowships The Missy Hopper Dissertation Fellowship," said Society Past President Daniel Sandweiss.
The $10,000 Dissertation Fellowship is one of 15 the Society awards each year to active members who are doctoral candidates and are completing dissertations.
"I really appreciate it," Hopper said. "I've loved my service. I look forward to continuing to support Phi Kappa Phi."
Phi Kappa Phi Dissertation Fellowships are part of the Society's robust portfolio of award and grant programs, which gives $1.3 million each year to outstanding members and students on chapter campuses through study abroad grants, graduate fellowships, funding for post-baccalaureate development, member and chapter awards, and grants for local, national and international literacy initiatives.
