The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

Madeline Stephens of Lubbock, a guard on the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team, has been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization for her performance on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore and have a minimum 3.50 grade point average (GPA). For basketball, they must have competed in at least 90% of their team's games or started in at least 66%. A senior athletically, Stephens has already earned her ASU bachelor's degree in health science professions with a 3.95 GPA and is now working on her MBA. She has been named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester and is also a regular on the ASU Dean's List. On the court, Stephens wrapped up her basketball tenure at ASU by setting a new career record with 1,114 rebounds and finishing third on the all-time scoring list with 1,720 points. She was named to the All-LSC first team this season and to the D2CCA All-South Central Region second team. As an Academic All-District selectee, Stephens is now eligible for the CSC Academic All-America teams that will be announced on April 16. See more details at angelosports.com.

Phi Kappa Phi recently announced its 2025 class of Dissertation Fellows. The twelve fellows will receive $10,000 each to support their dissertation writing.

Arwa Abdelhakiem, an Honors College senior at Missouri State University, has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship by the U.S. Department of State.

University of Maryland Global Campus honored twelve students with a Student Governance Award for their service on the university's Student Advisory Council (STAC) for the 2024-25 academic year. Members of STAC are elected by the student body and serve in an advisory capacity to the university president, provost, deans, and other officials to express the views of students.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Research Grants. The grants of up to $1,500 were designed to support graduate students who are active Society members seeking funding for research in support of career development opportunities.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the 2024 Study Abroad Grant recipients. The grants, worth $1,000, were awarded to 125 students nationwide.

The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that three College of Arts & Sciences students have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to travel abroad to teach, study or pursue research for the 2023-24 academic year. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected based on academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The program operates in more than 140 countries.

Kutztown Universty students in the Department of Communication Design won awards at the 2022 Graphis New Talent Annual Showcase.

University of North Georgia (UNG) cadet Benjamin Yetman received one of two $1,000 college leadership scholarship awards presented by the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) this March. Yetman, a Kennesaw, Georgia resident, graduated with a degree in history and commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant this month. He served as a cadet captain during his senior year.

Morgan Preston of Vicksburg, Michigan, has been selected to receive Angelo State University's 2022 Presidential Award as the top graduate in her class, while five other ASU graduating seniors have been selected for 2021-22 Distinguished Student Awards from their respective academic colleges. Preston will be recognized at ASU's May 13-14 commencement ceremonies, along with the five Distinguished Student Award honorees. The Distinguished Student Award recipients are: Krystyn Irby of Odessa - Archer College of Health and Human Services Price Tarbet of Big Spring - College of Arts and Humanities Caroline Huseman of Amarillo - College of Education Mia van Rheede van Oudtshoorn of Kroonstad, South Africa - College of Science and Engineering Connor Blake of Boerne - Norris-Vincent College of Business. Troy University is proud to recognize students who were named members of "The 87". The 87, formerly Who's Who, recognizes juniors, seniors and graduate students who have excelled in campus leadership and in their academic area.

The University of Alabama has crowned Lindsay Fincher as Miss UA 2021. Twelve women competed in the annual program at the Bama Theatre Saturday, Sept. 19, 2021.
