The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Research Grants. The grants of up to $1,500 were designed to support graduate students who are active Society members seeking funding for research in support of career development opportunities.

The following people recently were elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipient of a Phi Kappa Phi Gathright/Dean's Excellence Award. This award was created to recognize top freshman and sophomore students in each college who display exceptional promise.

Madeline Stephens of Lubbock, a senior forward on the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team, has been named to the Lone Star Conference Players to Watch List heading into the 2024-25 season. A health science professions major, Stephens averaged 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game last season on her way to being named to the All-LSC second team for the second straight year. She is the leading scorer of the Belles' returning players for this season. The Belles have been picked to finish sixth in the 2024-25 LSC Preseason Poll out of 16 LSC teams. The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the 2024 Study Abroad Grant recipients. The grants, worth $1,000, were awarded to 125 students nationwide.

The University of Alabama recently swore in the new 2024 Student Government Association members and the following students were elected to either the Executive Council or as senators for their respective schools or colleges.

From across the world, University of Mississippi biology major Christian Boudreaux received a life-changing Zoom call from Chancellor Glenn Boyce last week. Despite Zanzibar's spotty internet service, the message was clear: Boudreaux had won a coveted Truman Scholarship. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, the nation's official living memorial to the 33rd U.S. president, announced the junior from Oxford as the university's 19th Truman Scholar on April 12. The foundation awards scholarships based on outstanding leadership potential and commitment to a career in public service.

Eighteen University of Mississippi students were inducted into the Columns Society for 2024-25.

The Troy University Sorrell College of Business and School of Accountancy celebrated Accountancy Day on September 7. The ceremony honored students as well as provided scholarships for students in the program.

Phi Kappa Phi student vice presidents from across the nation recently attended the Society's 2023 Student Vice President Leadership Summit held July 28-29 as a web-based event.

FUSE grants are giving 12 UNG students the opportunity to research various fields and topics with faculty members over the summer.

The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that three College of Arts & Sciences students have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to travel abroad to teach, study or pursue research for the 2023-24 academic year. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected based on academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The program operates in more than 140 countries.

Noah Eggensperger, a Master of Social Work student at UA Little Rock from Cabot, has written a $5,000 grant to support an annual social work conference in Arkansas.

Kutztown Universty students in the Department of Communication Design won awards at the 2022 Graphis New Talent Annual Showcase.

University of North Georgia (UNG) cadet Benjamin Yetman received one of two $1,000 college leadership scholarship awards presented by the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) this March. Yetman, a Kennesaw, Georgia resident, graduated with a degree in history and commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant this month. He served as a cadet captain during his senior year.

Morgan Preston of Vicksburg, Michigan, has been selected to receive Angelo State University's 2022 Presidential Award as the top graduate in her class, while five other ASU graduating seniors have been selected for 2021-22 Distinguished Student Awards from their respective academic colleges. Preston will be recognized at ASU's May 13-14 commencement ceremonies, along with the five Distinguished Student Award honorees. The Distinguished Student Award recipients are: Krystyn Irby of Odessa - Archer College of Health and Human Services Price Tarbet of Big Spring - College of Arts and Humanities Caroline Huseman of Amarillo - College of Education Mia van Rheede van Oudtshoorn of Kroonstad, South Africa - College of Science and Engineering Connor Blake of Boerne - Norris-Vincent College of Business. The University of Alabama has crowned Lindsay Fincher as Miss UA 2021. Twelve women competed in the annual program at the Bama Theatre Saturday, Sept. 19, 2021.
