Middle Tennessee State University recently celebrated its most prestigious individual student awards for the 2023-24 academic year. Recipients included President's Award winner Ross Sibley of Redlands, California, Provost's Award honoree Sydney Robbins of Cordova, near Memphis, Robert C. LaLance Jr. Achievement Award winner Sevinch Kamaridinova of Gallatin, and MTSU Community Service honoree Brian Maxwell of Smyrna. A common thread: All are part of the MTSU Honors College.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the 2024 Study Abroad Grant recipients. The grants, worth $1,000, were awarded to 125 students nationwide.

From across the world, University of Mississippi biology major Christian Boudreaux received a life-changing Zoom call from Chancellor Glenn Boyce last week. Despite Zanzibar's spotty internet service, the message was clear: Boudreaux had won a coveted Truman Scholarship. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, the nation's official living memorial to the 33rd U.S. president, announced the junior from Oxford as the university's 19th Truman Scholar on April 12. The foundation awards scholarships based on outstanding leadership potential and commitment to a career in public service.

George Taylor, a junior biomedical engineering major at the University of Mississippi, is the university's 25th student to receive a Goldwater Scholarship.

The University of Alabama recently swore in the new 2024 Student Government Association members and the following students were elected to either the Executive Council or as senators for their respective schools or colleges.

Phi Kappa Phi members nationwide have been selected to serve as officers for their local chapters.

Miles Thompson, a junior classics major with a minor in museum studies at the University of Mississippi, received the 2024 Eta Sigma Phi Award for Excellence in Advanced Greek from the UM Department of Classics.

Phi Kappa Phi recently announced its 2024 class of Dissertation Fellows. The fifteen fellows will receive $10,000 each to support their dissertation writing.

Autumn Payne, of Union, was named one of the 13 inaugural recipients of the Stamps Impact Prize, a new competitive award program at the University of Mississippi to support undergraduate-initiated, faculty-mentored research and creative achievement projects. The program is the first of its kind in the nation to receive a renewable $100,000 gift from E. Roe Stamps and his family, which is being matched by an investment from the university. Ole Miss students were invited to apply for the awards, which provide financial resources for their research projects.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Research Grants. The grants of up to $1,500 were designed to support graduate students who are active Society members seeking funding for research in support of career development opportunities.

Two outstanding Mississippi State students in the College of Forest Resources were named Minorities in Natural Resources Conservation Fellows during the 77th annual Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies conference. To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must be current undergraduate students, graduates within the past 12 months or enrolled in a post-graduate program in select Southeastern states. Applicants also must have a career interest in conservation and natural resources and minimum 2.5 GPA and be at least 18 years old. The MINRC committee accepts approximately 25 fellows per year, and the application process is highly competitive. Fellows participate in discussions and gain information on selected topics relevant to seeking employment in natural resources fields. SEAFWA cultivates friendly relations and mutual understanding among officials engaged in natural resources conservation. It also promotes public understanding and appreciation of the importance of conserving natural resources and encourages the management of fish and wildlife resources. Missouri State University student Lily DeSpain recently received the Tau Sigma National Honor Society Scholarship for transfer students worth $1,000.

Brandon Kriplean, of Franklin, Tennessee, a senior international studies major at the University of Mississippi, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. The Rhodes Scholarship allows students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom to complete their master's or doctoral degree.

Madeleine Dotson, a senior majoring in economics, Arabic and political science at the University of Mississippi, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society has selected a University of Mississippi student as the sole recipient of its annual scholarship. Elsie Buskes, a junior geology major from Oxford and member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, will receive $1,000 to help her pursue a career in near-surface geophysics, which involves analyzing the ground just below the surface.

Ethan Lambert, of Corinth, who graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in May, has been selected as one of four 2023 Portz Scholars in the National Collegiate Honors Council's annual competition for outstanding undergraduate honors papers. Lambert won $375 and a free trip to present his honors thesis at the 58th annual NCHC conference in Chicago this November.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce the recipients of a 2023 Love of Learning Award. The awards help fund post-baccalaureate studies and career development for active Society members.

The Troy University Sorrell College of Business and School of Accountancy celebrated Accountancy Day on September 7. The ceremony honored students as well as provided scholarships for students in the program.

Phi Kappa Phi student vice presidents from across the nation recently attended the Society's 2023 Student Vice President Leadership Summit held July 28-29 as a web-based event.

Missouri State University Student Paige Bossaller was recognized for her contributuons to agronomy, crop science and soil science. She received a scholarship from the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America.

FUSE grants are giving 12 UNG students the opportunity to research various fields and topics with faculty members over the summer.
