Angelo State Counseling Grad Students Earn State CREST Awards

Three Angelo State University graduate students who are intern school counselors in the Brownwood Independent School District earned Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) Awards for their respective schools at the Texas School Counselor Association's (TSCA) recent Professional School Counselor Conference in Round Rock. ASU graduate students Angie Bertrand, Marci Reagan and LeeAnn Stork, all from Brownwood, are members of the Brownwood ISD Counseling and Mental Health Team that earned the CREST Awards from TSCA. The CREST Awards recognize schools with outstanding counseling programs, and that have demonstrated a commitment to using the Texas Model to improve the lives and achievements of students in academic, career and personal social domains. English major, Phi Kappa Phi member, named Georgia College Academic Representative

Ellen Yeudall, a senior English major, was named Georgia College's 2022 Academic Recognition Day representative. Ellen will be graduating in May with a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the Honors College, the non-fiction editor for Georgia College's literary magazine, as well as the secretary for the student honors association.

UA Little Rock Graduate Finds Success While Supporting the Community

Anitrea Graydon is a wife, mother of two, a student, a business owner, and community volunteer from Jacksonville, Arkansas. She will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree from UA Little Rock on Dec. 18. She is not only a dedicated community leader, but she worked consistently to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout her academic career.

Working parents, immigrants and first-generation college students are among the members of the 30th class of Mary Stuart Rogers Scholars honored Oct. 15, during a virtual ceremony. Seventeen students in all were recognized with 13 receiving the Rogers Scholars ring presented to first-year recipients.

Angelo State Announces Fall 2021 Phi Kappa Phi Inductees

Angelo State University's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) national honor society recently inducted its fall 2021 class of 86 students during a special virtual initiation ceremony on Facebook. PKP is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for students in all academic disciplines. Invitations to join PKP are extended to juniors in the top 7.5% of their class and to seniors and graduate students in the top 10% of their class. Troy University is proud to recognize students who were named members of "The 87". The 87, formerly Who's Who, recognizes juniors, seniors and graduate students who have excelled in campus leadership and in their academic area.

Phi Kappa Phi Member Berg Named LSC Volleyball Academic Player of the Year

Sophia Berg of Georgetown, a middle blocker on the Angelo State University Belles volleyball team, has been named the 2021 Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year. A senior biology major with a 4.0 GPA, Berg was also named to the LSC All-Academic team, along with teammate Chole Patton of Gillett, a biology major with a 3.81 GPA. The All-Academic Team is selected by the league's sports information directors, based on both athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible, student-athletes must have played in at least 50% of their team's contests, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution, and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA for her entire collegiate career. This marks the third time Berg has been named to the LSC All-Academic Team, and the second time for Patton. See more details at angelosports.com and on the LSC website.

ΦKΦ Member Cameron Poole Earns Rodeo Houston Scholarship

Cameron Poole of Kerrville, a junior animal science major at Angelo State University, has been awarded a $4,000 2021 Rodeo Achievement Scholarship from Rodeo Houston. The Achievement Scholarships are awarded to current Rodeo scholars who are working toward an undergraduate degree, have completed four semesters and at least 60 hours of coursework, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at a Texas college or university. Each student will receive an additional $4,000 scholarship for each eligible semester. Poole is a regular on the ASU Dean's List, ASU Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She has also been inducted into the prestigious Alpha Chi and Phi Kappa Phi national honor rolls. See more details at sanangelolive.com.
